Putting Capital in the hands of women

NFNV-Kenya’s first quarterly workshop was held in early March, on the topic “Putting Capital in the Hands of Women.” Targeting female entrepreneurs, the event was sponsored by Chase Bank and the bank CEO delivered the keynote address. Other content included a panel of case studies to demonstrate what makes businesses fundable (and what disqualifies them) as well as an extensive Q&A session that allowed audience members to share their queries and challenges around accessing finance, which were then addressed on the spot by a panel of funding experts from Chase Bank and private consultancies.

Attended by over 130 women, the event was extremely well-received, underscoring the ongoing difficulty many female entrepreneurs experience around accessing finance. This is one of NFNV-Kenya’s focus areas and the chapter’s activities this year include numerous capacity-building events to help Kenyan female entrepreneurs become finance-ready and connect them with financial institutions that cater specifically to the needs of women in business.
