RESEARCH ON WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS
Funded by Graca Machel Trust, New Faces New Voices – Kenya recently undertook a survey on “Growth Barriers Faced By Female Entrepreneurs.” The survey has attracted participation from over 600 entrepreneurs and focuses on Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. This was an online survey but also included focus groups sessions where entrepreneurs shared their insights with Trustees Makena Mworia and Andia Chakava leading the discussion.
The research was launched in Kenya at a high profile event attended by, amoung others, the CEO of Capital Markets Authority (CMA) Paul Muthaura, GMT CEO Nomsa Daniels, representation from the Nairobi Security Exchange, entrepreneurs, representation from development organizations and the media. The event received a lot of media coverage across East Africa. It was also shared with the Deputy Governor of Central Bank Sheila M’Mbijiwe.
