Nuru Mugambi

Ms. Mugambi is the Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Kenya Bankers Association (KBA). She has wide experience in the banking industry having served as spokesperson and head of corporate affairs at Barclays since 2008. Previously she was senior manager of corporate communications for Georgia-Pacific Corp. of Atlanta, Georgia USA. She has spearheaded several strategic KBA initiatives. Her contributions towards policy formulation have led the banking industry towards adopting numerous progressive practices, particularly in the area Public Engagement, Sustainable Finance and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Winner of the Africa Sustainability Leadership Award (2013); and CEO Magazine’s Most Influential Woman in Africa – Finalist (2013), Nuru sits on the Governing Council of the Nairobi City County Business District Association, and serves on the statutory Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee. She is a founding member of the Kenya Chapter of Graça Machel’s New Faces/New Voices Pan African network that promotes womens’ economic empowerment.

She graduated with honours in marketing communications from Kennesaw State University (Ga.); and has received an Executive MBA degree in Strategy from Georgia State University, Atlanta USA.
